Sony PDW-U1 / PDW-U2 Utility

General Notice:
The Sony XDCAM Drive Software for MAC OS X only supports Intel based Macs.

Provides support for:
32-bit Windows XP Professional SP3
32-bit/64-bit Vista Business, Professional, and Ultimate Editions
32/64-bit Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate Editions SP1
32/64-bit SnowLeopard (Mac OS X 10.6).

XDCAM Drive Software (VFAM) for both Windows (version 3.0 and 3.1) and Mac (version 3.0) have been replaced with this version 3.1.1 update to fix a bug in the original version 3.0 driver. This update fixes an interoperability issue when discs are formatted using a PDW-U1 or PDW-U2 running VFAM version 3.0. If you are running the VFAM driver version 3.1 for Windows which was initially released in December 2011, please update it to version 3.1.1 to remain in sync with the changes incorporated in the Mac VFAM version 3.1.1 driver.

XDCAM Drive Software (VFAM) Version 3.1.1 must be used with the new USB 3.1.1 PDW-U2 XDCAM Drive. PDW-U1 users are strongly advised to upgrade to XDCAM Drive Software Version 3.1.1 also in order to safely use discs created by the PDW-U2. XDCAM camcorder and deck users should make sure that they are running the most current versions of deck and camcorder firmware available on this web page to maintain compatibility with discs created by drives running VFAM 3.1.1.

1) Support for PDW-U2.
- This software package supports both the PDW-U1 and PDW-U2 for both USB 2.0 (Windows and Mac) and USB 3.0 (Windows).

2) PDW-U2 support for the new 128GB Quad Layer disc.
- This software package supports under Windows read/write to the Quad Layer disc.
- The new 128GB disc is supported by the PDW-U2 and not by the PDW-U1.

3) Under Windows the XDCAM Drive Utility will start automatically on Windows boot-up.

REMARK: At the current time, Avid Media Composer (Windows) displays an "out of memory" error when certain assets (i.e. .JPG files) are dragged into a project bin if the XDCAM Drive Utility is running. Exiting from the XDCAM Drive Utility will prevent this from happening.

NEW FEATURES & IMPROVEMENTS:

1.) This version has been improved to add greater stability when writing to the Professional Disc using an unstable USB connection.

2.) The operating systems which are supported has been expanded to include the following:

IMPROVEMENTS:

1.) Reading and writing of any data files of any size to the Professional Disc Userdata folder, subject to available capacity.
2.) XDCAM HD 422 50 Mbps 23.98p MXF file reading/writing support.
3.) Discs created with the Mixed Format Recording feature enabled by the PDW-700 version 1.5 firmware and PDW-F800.

VFAM V2.2.1 fixes a issue in V2.2.0, where in rare cases discs were not mounted which had been created by an XDCAM SD device using firmware V1.06.
